#FOTD: bronze and gold fall makeup look

It is time for another #FOTD. Lately, one of my favourite things has been to do my makeup for no reason at all. I really don't leave the house much (thanks to working from home and doing everything possible to stay safe)...so a little makeup look can really go a long way. Not only does it boost my mood and make me feel a little more polished, but it adds a bit of normality to my days. Not to mention a healthy dose of self expression! Since the fall season is fully underway, my go-to colours seem to be lots of warm bronzes and golds. They just scream autumn because they remind me of the leaves changing colour and all of those stunning warm shades. It also helps that warm metallics are ideal for everyday makeup looks. Ready to take a peek at this recent fall makeup look? Keep reading to find out what products were used and how this seasonal makeup was created.

at home glam (st patrick's day inspired makeup look)

St. Patrick's Day is almost here. Last year at this time, everything was slowly starting to shut down due to COVID-19. At that point....no one really knew how long things would be shut down for. Bars, nightclubs, and restaurants that normally hosted celebratory St. Patrick's Day events were closed out of "an abundance of caution." Well, a year later, there are still no events and it looks like it will be another St. Patrick's Day spent at home. Not to worry! There are a lot of ways to celebrate from the comfort of your home. Pour a cocktail or mocktail, put on something green, and have a board game night. Or watch a movie. The whole idea is to have fun. One way that I love to celebrate St. Patrick's Day is to create a festive makeup look

#FOTD: colourful goth makeup look

There is something exciting about blending gothic inspired makeup looks with unexpected pops of colour. The juxtaposition makes me positively giddy. So it only made sense to put the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Cremated Eyeshadow Palette to use. The palette was originally released in the summer (at that time, I created a post about it and used dupe products to create a gothic and grey makeup look). Since then, a lot of not-so-impressive information has been released about Jeffree Star. Needless to say, my feelings about the man behind the brand are complicated. But I was gifted the Cremated Eyeshadow Palette from Jeffree Star Cosmetics for Christmas and it was really exciting. I had always heard rave reviews about the quality of the eyeshadows. And as I mentioned in my original gothic and grey makeup post....grey shadows were scarce in my makeup collection. Not anymore! The palette has a wide array of grey, white, and black shades. Keep reading to take a look at my latest #FOTD. It is a colourful gothic makeup look with a mix of high-end and drugstore products.

#FOTD: wrapped in red makeup look

Somehow, Valentine's Day is right around the corner. Though it's hard to believe...we are already two weeks into February. The holiday will certainly look different for a lot of people this year. No heading to the store to purchase overpriced cards and candy, no dinner reservations, and no movie theatre tickets to put to good use. Though it will be far more lowkey than usual, there is still a lot of fun to be had. Whether you are celebrating solo or with someone special, a little makeup can go a long way. Makeup has long been a passion of mine. These days? It is my therapy. Being stuck inside so often has a way of making you feel a little...blah. Even though I am happy to work from home and generally enjoy staying indoors, makeup gives me that little burst of creativity. That little spark of joy. More recently, I created a Valentine's Day inspired makeup look to put me in the holiday spirit. It involved lots and lots of red. Take a look...

3 looks 3 palettes feat. too faced enchanted wonderland collection

Something making me happy at the moment? The Too Faced Enchanted Wonderland Collection. (In case you missed my review post...be sure to check it out here.) This holiday set included three mini palettes and a mini mascara. Even though lockdown is still fully underway where I live, makeup is still an important part of my routine. It allows me to express myself creatively and maintain some sense of normality. With that in mind, I've been creating lots of different looks with each of the holiday palettes. Want to see how some of them turned out? Here are three makeup looks using the three mini palettes included in the Enchanted Wonderland Collection from Too Faced.

#FOTD feat. hard candy blushing on you

Hard Candy holiday sets go hand in hand with the season. Each year, there are multiple sets to choose from. Some are massive and some are stocking stuffer size. At least one of them tends to be added to my makeup collection. (Partly because I love a lot of Hard Candy products and partly because the prices are ridiculously affordable.) It is always fun to test them out. This year, the Blushing On You set struck my fancy. Why? There were six warm and wearable makeup products. Want to see them in action? This #FOTD features this beautiful blush set from the drugstore.

fall makeup look (featuring morphe + lime crime)

Every leaf speaks bliss to me. That quote has always made me smile but this year, it seems even more accurate. I am embracing all things fall! The leaves changing colour, the crisp morning air, oversized sweaters, and of course, autumn colours. Those colours aren't just impacting my current wardrobe. They have also been inspiring a lot of my recent makeup looks. There is something about the warmth that makes me smile. Recently, I dug out a few favourites from my makeup collection (along with a few forgotten favourites) to put together a makeup look that screamed fall. Want to see how it turned out? Take a peek at some of the products used? Here is my latest fall makeup look...

miley cyrus midnight sky inspired makeup look

It was love at first listen. Every now and again, a song manages to sweep me away. Suddenly, all of the stresses and strains of the day melt away and I am totally transfixed. That is what happened with the latest Miley Cyrus song, "Midnight Sky." I loved everything about it. The song. The message. The music video. The makeup. It is a true musical masterpiece! Something that stood out to me while watching the bold and colourful music video for this song was the unexpected makeup. The combination of purple and red was unusual in the best possible way. It added to the strong, no apologies vibe that the song offered. The glitter on the eyes was just the icing on the cake! Immediately, I knew that I wanted to recreate the look for myself. It had everything on my must-have list: lots of glitter and a bold lipstick shade. Want to see how it turned out? Find out which products were used? Here is my Miley Cyrus "Midnight Sky" inspired makeup look.

2 looks 1 palette: urban decay naked ultraviolet eyeshadow palette

Has the Urban Decay Naked Ultraviolet Eyeshadow Palette been sitting in your online shopping cart? Is it on your wish list? Have you been wondering how it performs? The latest release from Urban Decay has certainly been making waves. Some beauty lovers adore it and others have mixed feelings. Personally, this palette has been on my latest list of loves. Mostly because of the exciting colour story. Essentially, I see the Ultraviolet palette as being split into two halves. The first is all about warm neutrals and the second half is loaded with gorgeous purple shades. In the middle there are two holographic shades to round it all out. With a mixture of matte, shimmer, glitter, and holographic eyeshadows...this eyeshadow palette has a little bit of everything going on. (In case you missed it, be sure to check out my full review of the Urban Decay Naked Ultraviolet Eyeshadow Palette.) With two very different colour stories, it only made sense to create two different makeup looks.

warm + cool makeup look (feat. too faced and kvd vegan beauty)

When it comes to makeup...there are no rules. Or at least there shouldn't be when it comes to colour combinations. For the most part, I tend to separate my looks into warm, cool, or colourful. Rarely do those categories come together. But lately, I have been mixing and matching. For me, that meant reaching for warm eyeshadow shades and cheek products but then finishing it all off with an ultra cool-toned lipstick shade. This was the first time in a while that I felt inspired to incorporate both warm and cool tones into a makeup look. Want to see how it turned out? Find out what products helped pull it all together? Here is a warm and cool makeup look featuring some high end products from Too Faced and Kat Von D.

colourful makeup look + kvd crushes technicolor crayon set review

The sun outside is shining. Whenever the sun shines brightly through my window, my first instinct is to create something colourful and exciting. To bring that light and optimism to any and all makeup looks. That is how I wound up putting the Kat Von D Crushes Technicolor Crayon Set to the test. Disclaimer: recently, Kat Von D stepped down from her company and it is now going by KVD. I am still a fan of the products that the brand has released in the past but obviously do not agree with the personal views she has expressed. Now! Back to colourful makeup. This particular set included three bright crayon colours which included a vibrant blue, pink, and orange. On a sunny afternoon, I decided to use all three of the colours to create something bright, fun, and a little out of my wheelhouse. The end result was a fun and creative expression. Ready to take a look? Find out how the KVD Crushes crayons performed? Here is a colourful makeup look to and a mini review.

i followed a colourful makeupbysaz tutorial

Over the years, I have watched a lot of makeup tutorials. Hundreds. Thousands, even. At first this was because my makeup skills were limited. Thanks to places like YouTube, a world of previously unknown information - as well as various skills and techniques - suddenly became available to me. I was entertained, inspired, and constantly learning how to improve my makeup application. One of my very early inspirations? MakeupBySaz. This fabulous YouTuber, blogger, and Instagram creator has been an important part of my journey with makeup. She has taught me skills and has pushed me to be more creative. Most recently, she posted a video titled, "Summer Makeup Using Affordable Products." I watched in awe. Since I had a lot of the products she was using....I thought I would attempt to recreate the look myself.

everyday makeup tutorial feat. catrice x eman eyeshadow palette

Life has been slower lately. Though the reasons behind this pause are scary and unnerving...my goal has been to make the most of every day. To spend this time catching up on my endless to do lists. To create. To relax. To enjoy my life. Though I am desperately missing my family and friends, all I can do is continue on in the best spirits possible. Recently, a new eyeshadow palette entered my collection. It has been sitting around for a little while. However it is only now in this time of pause that I have actually had time to put it to use. Curious about the Catrice x EMAN eyeshadow palette? A full review will be shared here in the very near future. For now, here is a simple everyday makeup tutorial featuring the palette. It is perfect for running those essential errands or perking up those at-home days.

#FOTD feat. morphe 39S such a gem artistry eyeshadow palette

Morphe has been getting a lot of love on Mansa Fashion. lately. Though I don't have a ton of their products in my makeup collection (a handful of palettes) the ones that I do have tend to be products I reach for again and again. Most recently, I reviewed the Morphe collaboration with Jeffree Star. Today? I will be showing you the 39S Such a Gem Artistry Eyeshadow Palette. This larger than life palette includes thirty two eyeshadow shades and seven silk toppers to add an extra pop of sparkle and shine to your makeup look. The holiday season is in full swing....so I decided to create something sparkly and seasonal for this recent #FOTD.

morphe x jeffree star artistry palette (demo and video review)

Since the Conspiracy Collection sold out almost immediately...I am trying to enjoy my Morphe x Jeffree Star Artistry palette just a little bit more. It seems like it will be the only Jeffree makeup I have for a little while at least! Though my fingers are crossed that there will be a re-stock sometime soon, this gives me the opportunity to really dig into this Jeffree collaboration before adding something new to my collection. (Yes, that is me attempting to be positive.) Yesterday I shared a review and a couple of makeup looks using the Morphe x Jeffree Star Artistry Eyeshadow palette. Today? I want to share a couple of videos that will show you the palette a little bit more in depth.

warm fall makeup look (feat. bh cosmetics it's my raye raye palette)

It's rare that an ultra affordable makeup palette takes your breath away. Takes over your day-to-day looks. Replaces comparable high-end and luxury products. However, that is exactly what happened when I picked up the bh Cosmetics "It's My Raye Raye" palette. It included contouring products, blinding highlights (some of the best I have ever tried), and a selection of warm eyeshadow shades. The obsession was immediate. Which explains why I have been reaching for this palette pretty consistently in recent months. Even if I'm not using the eyeshadow shades...those highlighting products are absolute must-wears. Today, I wanted to share a few of my thoughts on this palette and highlight a recent warm fall makeup look created using the products included in the set.

everyday makeup look feat. the balm magnetic personality palette

Some days are all about colour, glitter, and pizzazz. Other days are better suited to neutrals and straight forward makeup looks. Typically, I save the glitz and glamour for nights out and special events. Then the warm neutrals and subtle smokey looks are my everyday, going to work, running errands go-tos. A little while back, I stumbled upon the Magnetic Personality eyeshadow palette from theBalm. This is a brand that I've noticed popping up more and more where I live. From mini displays at the drugstore to discount stores like Winners and Marshalls....theBalm is taking over.

revisiting an old makeup palette (too faced the power of makeup)

Some days, I feel like doing a little digging. Through my makeup collection, that is! These days, it is so easy to get wrapped up in the new releases and forget about the items that you already own. This is something I am actively trying not to do. As much as I love new makeup...there are a lot of items in my collection that I love just as much. Take the Too Faced The Power of Makeup palette. This has made a shopping my stash post in the past...and it looks like it is about to make another appearance. Though there are an awful lot of eyeshadow sets in my possession, this is one that I come back to time and time again. It might have to do with the bold outer packaging (it is eye-catching in the best possible way) or the fact that there is a purple shadow in there that makes me very happy. Whatever the reason, it seemed like a good idea to revisit this palette.

two simple everyday makeup looks (feat. urban decay gwen stefani)

Getting glam is one of my favourite things. Few things are better than really taking your time getting ready for a special event (like a concert or a date night). Those are the moments where inspiration guides you. Those are the times when you can get creative and do something totally different. While I thrive in those moments, they don't happen every day. Most of the time, doing my makeup means quickly throwing myself together so I have a few extra minutes to eat breakfast before heading to work. It's not ideal but that is reality! As much as we may love the process of getting ready....sometimes you just need something quick. That is what inspired today's blog post.

re-creating jeffree star's blue blood look with drugstore products

I was tempted. Very tempted. So tempted, in fact, that I had the Blue Blood eyeshadow palette in my cart and had already started to punch in my credit card information. Then something stopped me. It was....the price. For those of you who don't know, Jeffree Star recently launched his Blue Blood collection. All of the products look beautiful. Though I've never tried anything from his brand before, I did watch the launch video for the collection and the Blue Blood palette looked beyond spectacular. The colours, the pigmentation level, and the over the top packaging? Yes please. Unfortunately, with a $52 US price tag plus $15 US shipping, it was going to set me back quite a lot. Especially once you convert that price into Canadian dollars. It seemed like a big investment when I already have so many eyeshadow palettes.

So, I made the responsible decision to remove the item from my cart and move on with my life. That choice inspired today's blog post. I decided to try and create my own Blue Blood inspired makeup look using only drugstore products.
