What is it about novelty items? They are always hard for me to resist. The sillier something is…the more I want to put it to use. Take the Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Crunchy Eyeshadow Palette as an example. This was something that I came across a few times at Winners. I tried to resist. In fact, I did resist the palette on a few different occasions, but eventually, temptation won out. I just had to find out whether the Cheetos themed palette was fun, ridiculous, or something else entirely. Ready to find out?
When it comes to the packaging, this is kind of eh. The shape is cute, because it is meant to look like a bag of Cheetos. Unfortunately, it is made out of cheap cardboard and some of the corners have dented in from day to day use. There is a mirror inside with a cheesy paw print and a flame design. All of that is cute, it just would’ve been nice if the quality of the cardboard was a little better. There are unfortunately not any names for the eyeshadows. That would’ve been a nice way to weave the theme through, but alas, there are no names provided. At least this Taste Beauty palette only cost $8.99 CDN.
The colour story for the Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Crunchy Eyeshadow Palette is spot on. There are all sorts of warm colours associated with the brand mascot and packaging. These were really thoughtful, though it would’ve been nice to see a black in here to represent the spots on Chester Cheetah. This palette has eight matte shadows and four shimmer shades.
Some of the eyeshadows are better than others. The mattes are all decently pigmented, but do require a bit of building to create an ultra colourful look. My favourite shades are the warm orange-reds in the lower portion of the palette, but for the look above, the main shade used was the yellow. The shimmer shadows perform better than the mattes, with the shimmer in the second row being the best part of the entire eyeshadow palette. All in all, this Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Crunchy Eyeshadow Palette from Taste Beauty is okay. Certainly worth of the $8.99 CDN price, but not a whole lot more. The pigmentation is decent and it is possible to create some nice makeup looks. I really like the colour story and the theme is a lot of fun. However, the packaging is ultra cheap and the overall quality is just okay. It’s a nice eyeshadow palette to use, but it isn’t a must have.
